Do I still fit  bathrooms?

My old bathrooms website is here. Beware, it is an old site and I don't maintain it. Some of the info will be out of date.

Contacting me...

Getting to the point quickly:

1) If you want to contact me solely for some technical advice, please note I happy to answer emailed questions but only when I have time. I get so many emails it is no longer possible for me to answer everyone these days. Click here to email me. You may get a reply, you may not!

2) If you are considering asking me to visit and fix your boiler, then it's best to ring me. You'll almost certainly get my voicemail but I'll call you back and ask you some detailed questions about what's wrong and give you my best estimate of the likely cost to fix it. My mobile number is 07866 766 364. Home/office is 0118 966 0166.

I'd quite like you to read this too :-) ....

Technical advice requests:

I get a LOT of emails and I DO read them all (except the spam), but sometimes there are too many to answer everybody promptly, or even at all. So if you email me for technical advice, please bear in mind human nature - I answer concise, well-drafted emails stating the make AND model of boiler and the exact problem with clear questions FIRST, and leave the more rambling or vague emails for later (or maybe never) ;-)

Areas I cover:

I'll go more or less anywhere, but I charge an hourly rate for my time including time spent travelling to and from site. The time log starts when I leave home and stops when I get back. I live in Earley, which is between Reading and Wokingham, Berkshire, so if you are wondering if I cover your area then the answer is probably 'yes' provided you being happy to pay for my travelling time as well as repairing time. This policy lets you the customer decide where I cover rather than me arbitrarily saying I go 'here' but not 'there'. It's now entirely up to you!

In reality this means most of my repairs are local as it quickly becomes uneconomic to employ me to travel for large amounts of time. However, with some less common appliances (thermal stores for example) or awkward breakdowns where local engineers seem unable to carry out a proper repair, people find it worthwhile to pay for my travelling as they can rely on getting a proper repair. Especially when the only other option is fitting a brand new appliance at enormous expense!

I regularly travel long distances under these circumstances. West London is a common trip and can be surprisingly close time-wise. (A lot depends of local roads and parking availability at the destination). I visit East London/docklands once or twice a month and travelling time can be as low as an hour and a half each way thanks to the M4 and M25 (when they are running freely). I've also carried out repairs in Bristol, Daventry, Bournemouth and Yeovil, to give more examples of places within reach.

Once again my contact details are as follows:

P.S.
I also often get asked if I can recommend a reputable heating engineer in your home town (wherever that happens to be).... I'm sorry but I don't.

I don't even know any engineers here in Reading beyond being on 'nodding terms' at trade counters!
